The Great Bicycle Move

Matt and I just moved into a new house. Luckily the new house is two blocks from the old one, so yesterday we did a bike move. With 5 bike trailers and some superior packing and unloading skills, the move was over in a litte over 2 hours. Throughout the move there was much talk of how to transport our canoe by bike...something I wasn't sure was actually going to happen...but it did (see video). Overall the bike move was a success, and certainly the most memorable move yet. Thank you to all of our friends who helped make our move way more fun.

good times

Yesterday was my first birthday spent in Minn, and of course there were some mosquitoes out, and the bug spray was passed around quite a bit, but it was a warm evening perfect for a bbq with friends. A highlight was getting to hear Ane play music from Amélie on the Accordion. I could listen to her play that music over and over again... It was such a good day.

The Mountains

The views were amazing. I wish we could have camped at Jenny Lake for a week. We did have 2 beautiful sunny camping days - the rest were rainy/snowy hotel days...which is what can happen when you plan a mountain camping trip in late May.

animal sightings in the Grand Tetons/Sawtooth Mountains

Marmot
Moose (and Moose Baby!)
Osprey (They have really cool nests)
Coyotes
Bison
Red Fox
Mountain Blue Bird
The highlights were definitely the mom and baby moose that crossed the road right in front of us, but also the Mountain Blue Bird. I've drawn blue birds many times from photos I've found online, but I've never actually seen a real one before. It wasn't until our last day driving down through the mountains that Matt spotted one from the car - so we pulled over and the blue bird flew over to pose for me on a fence post and then on top of a sign post. It was the prettiest blue.
